Yesterday I started a course of humira injections for my Crohn's disease. I'm on azathioprine too. Had been really well for 3+ years and on no medication but after birth of my daughter 6 months ago my crohns flared up. I'm sure exercise helps my crohns. What I'd like to know if anyone finds the humira injections affects their running? Do you stop exercising just before or after the injections for a few days? I know humira is used for other conditions too. So I'd grateful for any advice from anyone.

Can't say I'm able to answer your question, but I am a fellow Crohn's sufferer who also takes azathioprine, plus pentasa. Hope someone is able to help you / answer your question and also hope your running is impacted too much - running is about the only thing that keeps me going!

Thank you Endorphins Junky. I've decided I'm feeling fine so going to try a short run tomorrow.

I ran on azathioprine/pentasa for around 6 years. The only isssue I had was that when training really hard (the weeks leading up to a marathon) my routine blood tests always show a very low WBC. My speacialist is happy enough now we have seen the link between the two. Now off azathionprine and hoping that the Crohn's stays away. |
