Just by a few seconds. Well done on the ranking. My parkrun also took me back down a bit, not cos it was great but it knocked out an older result. Some way off my peak though. I don't do enough races when I'm fit, and then I do even fewer when unfit!

In absolute terms, the 18:25 is scored 6.4, the HM scored 5.6, so the HM is objectively way better as a performance Baz, according to RBR's parity of race times anyway. Whereas Fetch's WAVA standards would say they are broadly the same.

Congrats on getting down to 4.0. Just Abingdon needed to bring it down further :-)

Sure, but that is ignoring the race conditions which suggests the HM was a quicker course. By almost exactly the same margin (0.7 points).

Indeed. But that assumes that the SSS score is meaningful. I think the "take it steady at parkrun" attitude often causes them to get a bigger discount, as relative performance looks weaker, whereas "A" races like a big city HM or 10k etc have a deeper penetration of people going all-out for their PBs. parkruns are definitely the place to grab good low scores it seems, though not for everyone and not every time - there are plenty of exceptions.

Now that sub 3 is achieved, the next target is sub 4. Run Britain handicap that is.

Currently sat on 4.0. Will yesterdays 2:59 improve this ? The calculator says no.

It depends on how hard the course is rated. However in principle I think most runners tend to achieve lower handicaps most easily from shorter races. In part cos it's easier to get several good results in a short period that way.

I think my best was 2.7 after mancs, gradually rising to 3 now. Don't expect Sunday to have changed that but I'm happy to wait and see rather than try to work it out :-)

I suspect it will be rated as fast. It was a strong field, good course and pretty decent conditions.

I just need to recover quickly and blast a couple of fast parkruns !

Dude, your parkrun times are already out of sight! I'm looking forward to getting under 20, while you're looking at under 18:20 (or poss sub 18, one day?!) :-) G

Marathon runs decay very slowly so (ignoring the skew towards parkrun due to not everyone racing) if you are as good at marathon and HM as shorter distances, your handicap will stay up there for longer if made up of those distances.

My handicap decays very quickly given 1500s start decaying after a month!
