I echo what Katie said The bitter taste of defeat is hard to swallow, but I'm sure, in time, they will learn from this and be all the more stronger for it. |

Hasn’t realised we were on BT sport this afternoon. But we seem to have scraped a win.

The only good thing about today is that at least it wasn't one of those 40 minutes of great rugby followed by a second half implosion. At least we were consistent from the off.

England were dominated from start to finish. My prediction was as wayward as Ben Youngs’s passing. Disappointing result, SA as a team are not as gifted as England but played to their strengths very effectively so fair play to the SA and clearly a result which stretches beyond rugby. Garces stunk the game out, the early penalty on Lawes was harsh, and set the tone. That said England squandered the chances they had. Had England scored a try near the end of the first half when they had 20+ phases, we could have gone in 10-6 up at the break. As it was we didn’t and coughed up two quick penalties to be down 6-12. There was a period at the start of the second half where we opted to kick for goal, whilst the right thing to do to start chipping away at their lead I did wonder if perhaps kicking for the corner might have been the right call. We will never know. |

As for the medals, I imagine that professional sports players don’t play for a runners up medal. So I can’t blame the players for not wanting to wear them!

We’ll always have the New Zealand semi. I still recall with a smile that quarter final win in 91 over France in Paris but barely remember the damp squib of a final we lost. It was noted we had the youngest squad in the tourno, so plenty to build on. Wonder if EJ will stay, think his contract is 2021 and they should either agree 2023 or get rid quickly. |

Yeah England are not a bad team, they just weren’t the best one today!

England are either great or awful. We need to find a way to grind out wins on off days.
