I intend on trying to row 400 miles in 2011 to add to my bike and running targets.

If anyone fancies any rowing chat through the year, this is the place to be!

I'll join in! Was going to set myself some rowing targets too (mainly on times for 5000m and 2000m) but it would be good for a mileage target too. I'll be using rowing as cross training for my Furman marathon training plan (3 runs per week plus 2 crosstraining activities, rowing and swimming)

Is there a way of setting rowing miles targets in Fetch?

I wish there was Karen

Eva i would love to join you, but had to give up my gym membership - cut backs but if things change i'd certainly join you as it is my favourite form of cross training

Just worked out what might be a realistic weekly target for me - think 10k per week sounds about right. Will aim for 300 miles (400 a bit high for me!). Going to aim to get my 5k time down to 21:30 (best in 2010 22:02) and my 2k time down to 8 minutes (best in 2010 8:22).

What sort of sessions do you tend to do CornishEva?

I am not sure if ther eis a way to set up targets for other sports but I just go through my traioning log through the year and total them up. in 2010 I have done 313.98 miles so hope to make this a round figure before the end of the year.

Of course as well as mileage targets it can be time targets. just anything rowing!

Hope to see you back Pammie!

Brill idea CE :) I think I may have asked for a rowing target before.

I'll be doing sessions in the gym and also at my local rowing club on the river - been learning to row since September and have now moved up into the development squad :)

will have a think about what I want my mileage target to be.

I rowed with my local rowing club up to 2007 - I stopped after my son arrived in 2008. I would love to get out on the water again but it's just too time consuming with family commitments :-(. I do really, really miss it. When my son is old enough to join the juniors I'll start up again I think and take him there but that will be quite a few years off!

Yay! more people on board! I could always set up a group? Or a spreadsheet? Ideas welcome please!

Maybe an article with targets? I will try to get Lali on board too :-)

(sorry about my bad typing earlier!)

Good plan Karen - there are loads of juniors at my club and they have a great time. I agree with the time commitment - we go out 8-12 Saturday mornings and 9-11 on Sundays, plus circuit training in the week (which I don't go to). I usually only do saturdays though as I tend to go to running events on Sundays.

It's much nicer to row on the river than in the gym but am sticking to inside rowing in this weather!
