Thanks all. IT - sound like it'd be cheaper for me to fly to Italy for an appointment and certificate than get one done here! But yes, I'll rejoin the local club and see what Rome says (that sounds rather grand).

Some news - Rome marathon are offering a medical test for international athletes at registration time in Rome, for 70 euros. Bring your own urine! And I got a very kind email reply about the difficulty of getting hold of affordable tests abroad. I'll be re-joining a club anyway to sort it, once I've transferred first claim club etc: maratonadiroma.it |

That's great, lunaman. It would seriously suck if you got there and failed the medical though! They get quite excited about blood pressure, heart-rate (resting and after exertion) and blowing into a tube. If you can run 42km, I'm pretty sure you'll be fine

Yay, nice. And I got a confirmation email with race number! 2847. They accepted my new club membership fine, all sorted, no urine required

I'm F1185. Not quite sure how the pens will work but I guess they handed out numbers based on pbs.

Yes, I think I'm in the blue pen - yes, this is based on the previous time we put on the application. Now to calculate what time I have to run the race in to get safely to the airport for the 3pm plane back to the UK. That is not gonna be a fun plane ride!

ouch! hope you've booked extra leg room. At least it is only a couple of hours. Fortunately, I have a few more days in Rome to wander about with the kids.

Does the membership have to be IAAF affiliated? or will EA be enough?

I sent in a copy of my EA card and club membership card and they were accepted.
