I think 3.5 hour cut off is doable for most, but with the wave start I hope they keep to 3.5 hours after the final runner has crossed the start line.
I was on Porty prom yesterday and it was busy as it was a lovely afternoon, wouldn't want to dodge round too many folks and dogs.

R`n`R are American-based and they`re organising this according to their own rules (which seem years behind), eg collection of race number/chip/swag bag the day before etc. They`ve already screwed up some posted race-packs with refunds offered/new numbers and chips being sorted. If you look at race map the last 0.1 miles is hopefully not to scale as it looks like 0.5 miles Re the weather that I`ve just looked at, the wind is forecast 9mph NNW, so Portie will be breezy off the sea but should have a bit of a tail-wind until we turn off half way along. Then in theory it should be behind us! So...last year the old ADT Half measured long, the EMF half and marathon were a shambles at the end...so let`s hope the R`n`R are having a few pre-race niggles and the event itself will be a blast. With GSI in trouble and the possibility that the marathon weekend maybe the last EMF event in Edinburgh the city needs a decent big race event on the calendar

Well Im glad to see the original 4hr cutoff wasnt a figment of my imagination, if its gun to 3 1/2hr cutoff I could be in trouble. Entered in Dec & only found out you could have got race pack posted after the closing date to arrange it.
That aside what is this about GSI? Cant imagine no marathon despite all the niggles over the years. Thats not to say it wouldnt be a massive leap off imagination to have a Rock'n'Roll marathon move in ...

There were rumours last year of sponsors pulling out after the chaos at the finish, but GSI like a lot of companies are cutting back. The Kilomathons are 90% on cycle paths this year (minimal road closures). The word is this could be their last year in Edinburgh, but that was the word last year too.

Only noticed this thread this morning for some reason - I'm looking forward to this but I have some reservations given their history of recent catastrophies in the States and I'm not encouraged by the weird way they communicate with people on the facebook page - so many genuine queries being ignored. Hmm! Anyway - I'm not in it for a PB (at that price I want my money's worth!), and am looking forward to a fun trip down from Aberdeen with crooked-smile. Big races are always fun and I've been doing a lot of small ones recently so that's another bonus. Oh yeah, and that medal looks totally pimp.

I got this response to my retort about changing the goalposts - again
"Hi June, our deepest apologies with the miscommunication. We had fought to extend the original 3.5 hour limit and finally received approval from the City of Edinburgh for a 4 hour time limit several months ago. However, as the race neared and construction and various other constraints weighed down on the course, we were forced to go back to our original time limit of 3.5 hours. Apologies again."
Still confused as to what will happen after the 3.5 hours though as the info on the website is contradictory! First it says that those falling below the set time limit will be “stopped and shuttled to the finish line area.” then a few sentences later says that they "will be issued with a wrist band by the tail vehicle steward and informed that they can continue the race as an active pedestrian with the roads reopened as usual. Runners will be asked to move over the side of the road or the footpath in this instance. Runners will be able to finish the race as normal even if they are presented with a wrist band.”
I have asked the question as I am likely to be at the back and would prefer to finish under my own steam and claim my medal for my efforts.
