No. As much as I love RH and Holme Pierrepoint (not withstanding the industrial swearing it suffers from me) I put myself under too much pressure to perform, so this time off is needed. It better be a success though so I can hit it in 2014!

Nope. Next marathon for me is London (if the ballot favours me again) or a return to conquer Kent.

Just noticed the course map linked from the email/website still says 'provisional course' - so maybe not a confirmed route yet... Seems a bit disorganized for a big/established/£38 event?

Also, does anyone know if the half-marathon route was the same as last year (I misses 2012 but did the previous few) - I've just looked at it compared to google maps and it seems to miss out all the best bits of Nottingham - loop round the castle, the park, the university grounds etc. - instead having most of the course on a road through the industrial estates to the south-west.

The second half of the full seems better though? - the race course rather than the out and backs around Holme Pierrepoint/the rowing pond. Mmmm..... it was my target marathon for 2013 but decisions, decisions...

I assume it's rather more than someone just drew it on the map and put it on the website. It'll be provisional until the course is measured and UKA licence is issued (or some such shiz)

The HM route will be the same as last year. The old Castle/University/Wollaton course was a slow first 6 miles so very few quicker runners (other than Africans hoovering up the prize money) were bothering to run it. As the event is a race - and I'm guessing here - the organisers are likely to have wanted to attract a better field by encouraging fast times rather than close the A52 for a sightseeing jog. Hence the faster course.
