It's quite entertaining if you ask it what it would say to your pet, and came up with distinctly different conversations to have with Jerry the cat and Jemima the cat. I've also used it to generate a 'reminiscence' for a tutorial activity for my students, but it was so bland I had to edit it in places so they'd got a little bit more to get their teeth into.

Just been playing with London Marathon predictions via Bard, google's AI. Some very peculiar results indeed. It seems to make up facts at the drop of a hat, whilst simultaneously appearing to be knowledgeable. Very worrying if this is the best Google can do! e.g. I asked how fast my sister could cycle up Alpe d'Huez and it told me she had won the 2022 Tour des Femmes. And that thread members on the 3:15 Marathon thread here were British Record Holder in the marathon. Maybe sporting data for individuals shouldn't be expected to be answered, but if it doesn't know surely it should be programmed to say "I don't know that individual" even if thereafter it gives some waffly answer about generalised predictions. |

Larkim - it does it all 'in the style of' and doesn't always bother with the truth. I gather AI will make up references when it's writing essays for students, so that's going to be an interesting one to deal with. I might go and see what I've achieved that I didn't know about...

Oh wow. ChatGPT thinks I've won the 2018 Western States Endurance Run, and achieved success in the Javelina Jundred and the Angeles Crest 100. I've set impressive course records including the Mount Tammany 10 and have placed highly in the Boston Marathon. I should state here that my marathon PB is 4:23 and I've never done an ultra.
