If you have 20 minutes to spare, and fast forward the ads, this is well worth watching: Made in 2019, just after Ron's 80th birthday. |

Like Alehouse I also had the pleasure of knowing Ron, he was a true gent who always had time for all runners fast or slow. He very kindly paced me to what is still (and now always will be) my lifetime best for a half marathon for which I've always been grateful He also signed both copies of his autobiography for me and the original Thomas Cook Tour of Tameside in the 80's and 90's are amongst my favourite races. Thanks for the memories Ron |

Ron Hill ran 1:05:44 to win the inaugural 1965 Freckleton half Marathon in Lancashire. Oldest HM in UK? You decide. en.wikipedia.org |

Sad news. I ran a few of the 5k Ron Hill Birthday races in Littleborough, nr Rochdale. They were always well attended and he seemed such a lovely, genuine bloke and almost embarrassed by the attention before the start. Even at 76, I think he was still running at about 25min pace for the 5k..! |
