So after my recovery run yesterday, I'm a lot more pain-free, but I'm aware of a mild calf-knack which I'd like to go away. I've managed to arrange my wokload so I'm spending most of the day sitting on a chair with compression socks. Can't really elevate the leg and type at the same time. I wouldn't mind getting some ice into the mix, but not working in a pub, I don't have ready access to such a substance. Does anybody have a tried and tested, cheap method for making my calf cold without either looking like a twunt or looking like I'm wearing a curfew tag? That's not a good look in a school. I have access to a freezer, but not an ice cube tray. I cannot work out how to engineer a way of getting my foot up under my desk. |

Now don't laugh, but I've frozen a 500 ml Coca Cola bottle full of water and use this as & when at home. At your desk? Hmm....heavy duty rubber bands to secure bottle to calf....

Could I try and shove it down the back of a compression sock, perhaps? Or will that be too compressive and too cold?

Ye, that may well work - I've wedged the bottle inside the leg of tracky bottoms - but restrict it to 15 minutes' contact. You could insulate with a handkerchief or cloth between bottle & leg.

I've thought about trying these, but I've no idea if they're any good: lloydspharmacy.com

Or the tape would be fine! You want to avoid any possibility of ice burn.

Even better! And re-usable, I believe.
