Me too, Minardi. I am particularly hard on the heels. I once shredded a pair of Skechers Ultra... on an ultra. Tough day out that and the trainers were rejected and Skechers, despite being like slippers - in every sense come to think of it - have not been revisited.

The milage on my last few pairs has been: Wave Shadow 3 - 1523 miles Wave Shadow - 1415 Wave Sayonara 3 - 709 Wave Precision 13 - 1021 These are all relatively lightweight shoes, so that might help with longevity. |

I feel SO much better about my trainer collection now. It's tiny in comparison with most of those declared so far.

Bought a new pair of trail shoes on the understanding that an old pair with holes in were being thrown out but can't bear to do that as their only small holes in the sides and the tread is ok...

OH made me throw out one of my semi-retired pairs of trainers when I got new hiking sandals one year. Still not sure I'm happy with it...🙂

Wow, I only retire mine when they are torn or otherwise completely unwearable, I also tend to buy bargains - so dont have a favourite brand. I think I get in excess of 1,000 miles before I consider retiring anything, I have also bought second hand running shoes (from here) that are still doing me well. Maybe I'm just lucky not to suffer from injuries etc or just possibly the recommended mileage on shoes is a manufacturers myth
