Autumnleaves
Just finished Robert Harris' The Fear Index - good page-turner and a bit nightmarish.

Aha, Rosie Swale-Pope's book. Good idea. Combines my love of running with my love of being elsewhere.

Some other great ideas, though, gang. Keep 'em coming.

Did Brave New World for GCSE Engliish, BAW, which was only 20 years ago. I agree, it is a great book.

Minardi I am reading it now and finding it a proper snore fest (not seen the movie either). Does it get better because so far it is so poorly written it makes me want smack someone. I will finish though cause I am stubborn and i am already half way through!

Black Heart Blue by Louisa Reid - it's her first novel, very good.
I also really enjoyed The Sisters Brothers - Patrick DeWitt.
I am re-reading A Fine Balance - Rohinton Mistry

I'm a big fan of the Viz Billy the Fish Football Yearbook. It's available on Amazon for 1p, which seems about right

Oh and my favourite recent book is still "Half Blood Blues" by Edu Edugyan, Booker Prize and Orange prize shortlisted but don't let that put you off, it was too good to win either. Story of American jazz musicians under the Third Reich, by turns uplifting and heartbreaking, ending brought a tear to my eye and I'm too grizzled an old dog to get moved by much these days.
