And if you beat the train you could always do the Man v Horse. Only once been won by a man. Frequently won by lady horses or ladies riding horses.

But, WT, that would be too easy and not waste other people's time.

As for RTT, looks like fun. On my list to do at some point. Reckon I've a chance of beating it if I have a good run.

Probably not this year though, as the Peris Horseshoe is looking like my Autumn target race. I'll not ask if 17.5mi/8500' is hard! The course record of 3hrs 2min 49 tells me that already.

Intriguing!

Any more off-the-radar races?

There's that underground marathon....

Yes, but then you'll find there's something about these off-the-radar races you don't like, and retreat to the safety of your previous races.

I'd be more impressed if London Underground declared all their track (or at least 26.2 miles of it) free from trains for a few hours, and allowed people to run down the tunnels with headtorches and so on. And then turn the current on just after the cutoff time...

Anyway, we all know that there is only one truly hard race - the biggest, longest, hardest race of them all that takes place in London every April. No races are harder than that one, are they?

There's the Oxenhope Straw race. That consists of teams of two carrying a bale of hay (an old fashioned square bale not one of the humungous round ones) along a 5 mile course stopping at five pubs along the way and drinking a pint at each (a half if you're a lady).

I won that one once.
