Just had a follow up from John - he hadn't run over a half marathon since 1994 - but since completing all 6 distances in Race The Machine he is now confident to take on a new challenge. He has entered a marathon for his 71st birthday! All of John's times can be viewed here: racethemachine.co.uk

I am struggling to get form back after getting covid at Easter. I am now running without the need for walk break and my breathing isn't laboured. But getting in good enough shape for to the 1500 metres as my next race is proving to be tough.

Interesting read and a really good victory over The Machine over 1.5km. Especially in the heat.

Race The Machine 2024 is now open for entries...

It would be great to have a few Fetchies with us again!

Red Challenge 2024 - 1500M, 3K, 5K, 10K

Black Challenge 2024 - 1500M, 5K, 10K, HM

Running to beat personal and achievable time targets provides motivation and a real sense of satisfaction to all abilities. This innovative challenge responds to your previous result, creating realistic personal target times for you at each distance. Everyone can succeed and move up the leaderboard!

Without having to travel by car, train, or plane you can join a community of runners across the UK and beyond challenging themselves to race 4 distances in 2024. You will also receive a quality black or Red buff/snood (made from recycled bottles), as soon as you complete your challenge.

Over 200 entrants took part in 2023. 2023 promises to be even bigger and better!

About This Thread

Maintained by Seratonin
Been stalked by an advert here on Fetch tonight.
I haven't actually done a proper race for a good 5 years.

I clicked on the link and having given it a quick read, I am kinda interested. The blurb suggests that it is relative to your Riegel score, so it sounds like it is a reasonable target (i.e. acheiveable but a fair challenge)

So a couple of questions:

1) Did anyone do this challenge last year?
2) If so, how were the times you received from the machine? Easy, reasonable, challe...
