Fair enough. Thanks for looking. I'll try again tomorrow.

The wifi here has been streaming vid, Skype etc no problem (and I've added a bunch of routes up until today) so don't think it's that. Maybe just a temporary system fart.

Btw the "kick out" happens at pretty much the same point every time: as I start to retrace the route from its furthest point. I can't "out and back" it because I want to add an extra loop on the way "home".

It's not to do with the wi-fi - your iPad will be holding a list of points in its memory - and there's a finite number that it can cope with. I'm working on increasing this number, so you can plot longer routes quicker.

Fetch, if you saved a route and came back to it, would your iPad still be trying to hold all those points?

If it's displaying the line, it's got to know about all those points. I like optimisation problems - I'm onto it :-)

I've made a few little amendments that will reduce the number of points (on a dead straight road, for example, it will drop any intermediate points).

I've just stress tested it, and this time, I got to about 250 miles before it passed out :-) I'm calling that a win :-)

Just tried to add the route again. Got further this time but still got booted out. Tried to minimise the number of "waypoints" that I used. Got to about 7-8 miles.

Ok, I'll keep working on improving it. What iPad version is it, btw?

It's pretty old, maybe an original iPad? Model A1396 on the back; MC984B in General Settings under model.

I also have an iPhone 5S. Fiddlier to use but is it worth a try on that?
