It is indeed Winnats, and full marks to Fetch for reading the sign behind it. It could be a new prague..

The Mussile
Ganna doesn't like twisty courses apparently?

Ganna is very much a steady state time triallist and is relatively big compared to many of the others. Course that require lots of slowing and accelerating aren't really his forte. Thats without the issue that TTs are being diminished at World Tour level and there aren't really many specialist TT riders left as to get contracts they need other skills which opens up the discipline to more surprise wins.

The Mussile: Ganna really made his name as a bonkersly good pursuiter, so that makes sense.

It's worth noting that the two British juniors who won yesterday had a background in CX at a fairly high level (and still does in the case of Zoe), hinting that a big part on that course was the ability to carry speed through the technical stuff and punch out of it.

Given that it shares quite a bit with the road race course, may be something taken note of.

Outside of the World Champs and national titles, are there any TTs at "elite" level these days? All the big names focus on the major 1 day races, the 1 week tours and the GTs so presumably get their "fix" of TT through the prologues, GT TTs plus the national / international champs. Must be hard to fit in events of any significance beyond that.

He did it again (cycling away from a strong group to win), blimey. This is becoming a thing. And "only" doing the Giro next year? Every time recently it looks like a generational talent has emerged, another one comes along...

We need a pog Vs Rog Vs Remco Vs Vinge GT next year. Though we should get years of this stuff, quite the Nadal Vs Federer Vs Djokovic type scenario.

I don't actually think we do and I'm not convinced Evenepoel is quite at the top three's peak level at GTs yet (one day racing is a strength he's had for some time) or even Bernal's (TT would likely make him even there). I can't say he won't get there by next year though as he'll be improving (see Pogacar and Vingegaard).

Also I think there's a real possibility that Roglic is at the Giro (hard to see Vingegaard not being the clear TDF leader) next year so it's two Vs two.

I do wonder whether QS will be too tempted by the Tour.

I agree they are different beasts. But Remco has proved his GT credentials now, and with the powers of recovery to go from Vuelta to Worlds I'm thinking it feels like there's nothing he can't do - and he (and Pog) will race too, so who knows what chaos in the GC that sort of behaviour might causes on days which otherwise might not be considered to be classic GC days.

Glass half full etc. Even if we only have PogvRogvVinge we've got some impressive years ahead; at some point they have to match up in a GT, surely (would be shame if they used the challenge of multiple GTs to coordinate diaries to avoid each other, as understandable as that might be).
