Sam,

parkrun do not want it to be collected from individuals, they would rather it came from a company or companies.

A number of companies is fine :)

Ah, I see. I can't really think of anything to help raise the funds except possibly approaching the cafe to see if they could help out in any way. After all, you would be driving substantial business their way.

Hope it all works out though :)

I have a meeting with them next week so I will be asking and you are right, lets say 200 - 500 people at 10 am every Sat who could use the cafe :)

There are loads of businesses in Leeds, surely one of them would be into sponsoring? How about starting with the ones that put corporate teams into Leeds Half and Abbey Dash?

Just out of interest what sort of numbers do they get at Hyde Park parkrun? And how far away is Roundhay from Hyde Park?

Normally about 200-250 people at Hyde Park (sometimes a bit more).

Distance from my house (Roundhay - not too far from Park) to University is 4miles (distance travelled not as crow flies), so I'd guess it's something similar between Hyde and Roundhay Parks.

You've got the mansion house cafe as well - they might cough up some pennies.

Might be worth asking the businesses along Street Lane as well - the likes of Starbucks do a lot of stuff in the community.

As for numbers I'm not sure that there would be as many as go to Hyde Park due to the demographics of the area, although you might attract people from Wetherby, Harrogate etc.

Leeds parkrun averages 141 people across 171 events since October 2007 and a high of around 300.

Numbers might be bigger at Roundhay due to the number of people who use the park (last year 9.2 million)

I have a meeting with the Lakeside cafe on Monday.

I will ask Starbucks thanks for that :)

At the moment about 30 people from the Roundhay area go to Woodhouse Moor.

Numbers do not matter really, in a city of nearly 1 million and with nothing around the East side of Leeds and South to Barnsley there is a need and Roundhay Park is the third largest municipal park in Europe

Thanks for your help
