I'm wary of the fact that he actually hasn't gone and is aiming to hang on for weeks at least, possibly months.

What Cummings is also saying, says the Trolley thinks he can somehow still escape this.

Burnham hampered by the fact he's not an MP and showing no intent to stand down in Manchester. If Starmer does have to go soon, Burnham won't be in a position to take advantage. The yougov poll earlier on Tory candidates was interesting in that no single candidate appeared to have more than 13% individual support. Though Wallace appeared to be the winning card if it was a top trumps head to head contest. |

Wallace or Sunak. And I share waryiness. He has utterly no principles. However the latest rumour is that Chequers is booked out for him and Carries wedding do for August, perhaps he wants to hang around for that? |

Burnham is in a rock/hard place, because as an elected mayor he can't show interest , but a) Labour might consider changing their constitution as it predates mayors, and b) he's been making comments that suggest he may stand. He wouldn't resign until Starmer goes anyway.

I think he is going to pull some ridiculous stunts as a bare minimum, but he won't be writing another Queen's Speech, that's for sure. But let's say it goes like this: He and Zahawi come up with a truly ridiculous set of proposals in a "mini-budget". Zahawi will do it as part of his leadership campaign - even though that's a tool not available to other candidates. The party takes umbrage, not because they disagree with them but because they don't believe he has the authority to make them. Who wins? Does the fat clown start appealing above their heads to "the country"? Do they all have to start resigning again or are they largely powerless while the leadership contest plays itself out? Easy to see how messy it could get. He won't win but he will cause chaos. They need to stake him, stuff his mouth with garlic and bury him at the crossroads as soon as possible. |

"In the official readout of today's Cabinet, No10 said @BorisJohnson told his colleagues that "major fiscal decisions should be left for the next Prime Minister". There goes that tax cuts plan that was due next week." There goes that theory. Hahaha |

Perhaps it will just be as simple as him dicking around doing as little as possible for the next 3 months. Worse things could happen.
