Thankfully not me. Unfortunately the wife.

She's not a runner - couldn't be what with the platar fasciitis and everything.

Any quick tips for the relief of PF when it's affecting your day-to-day movement rather than just your running? Obviously, a visit to the doc would be appropriate, but apparently last time the doc basically went "You've got Plantar Fasciitis. Unlucky"

Tape the offending foot up. Instant relief :-)

Freeze a sports drinks bottle 3/4 full of water (expansion) and then roll foot up and down on it.

work out what shoes make it worse and avoid them
a baseball works well, like KK's frozen bottle, bit more portable and a bit firmer than a tennis ball.

There's a long-running thread on PF somewhere...

What seems to make it worse is teaching Modern Languages all day or chasing after a two-year-old.

Can't really avoid either of those.

Mine is all related to my calf, but is different for everyone.
Ice on the arch does nothing for my, lengthening my calf by stretch and roller really helps.

The Scribbler
Long running PF thread is here:

Ice, rolling and stretching seem to be the basics, but as Johnny says, it's different for everyone. Some of the 'treatments' actually blooming hurt (golf ball under the ball of the foot) and you only feel the benefit afterwards.

DeeGee - if your wife needs instant relief and I'm guessing being a teacher and mum of a 2 year old she does, then here's how to tape the foot.

All of the above is excellent treatment and advice, but this should mean that she can walk about relatively pain free. I've had acute PF and this worked for me, hope it does for your wife.
