A work colleague stopped me today to ask why she was getting pins and needles in her lower left leg and foot about 20 minutes into a run, to the extent where it feels like she is 'running on a stump' only for it to wear off after another 20 minutes or so. I could only suggest new shoes, she has some, looser laces, which she has tried, and bad circulation and/or diet which she partially dismissed. Any other ideas? |

I had that & was quite disconcerting. I had new shoes but went for gait analysis & they changed my shoes. Tight laces stil does it to me, I run with my shoes so loose now I don't need to losen them to get on. Has she had any injury? I'd suggest she gets a gait analysis or a 2nd opinion. If that shows nothing a trip to a Physio / sports therapist might be an idea. Hope she gets sorted. |

I've had that in the part and it is invariably an over-tight lace over the top of my foot. Not sure what to suggest otherwise.

I sometimes get this in various parts of my feet. Done all sorts of shoe adjustments but I also think it is in part a manifestation of Raynaud's syndrome. Random bits of my extremities will spontaneously go numb and tingly and as I warm up properly it eases. Never had it properly investigated though, as it goes away and doesn't cause any lasting discomfort.

I used to suffer as well with this. Was too tight laces for me as well.

Hi - also check socks - I can't run in ankle socks as they get too tight and cause pins and needles even if my laces are loose enough, I can only wear the trainer liner kind.

Where in the leg/foot? Is this a sciatic issue? |

I'd also say make sure the shoes are the right size. As someone with wide feet I've had this problem before with shoes that were not wide enough.
