Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

had a dilemma today, do I pin the number to my shirt then put my jacket over it, or put my shirt on over my jacket, or pin it to the jacket, in the end I pinned it to the jacket, and yes it has left little holes, and it meant I couldn't take the jacket off if it got sunny, which it didn't.

think that looks naff, bit like pinning it to the back of a shirt the fashion police and job worths would panic.

My club vest has a very handy white stripe across the front which helps me line the number up crossways, and the club name in black across the middle of the white bit is handily the same width as most race numbers. The only time that fails to work for a beautifully straight number is if you have one of the batch with the club name printed slightly off to one side so there is more white stripe one side than the other. Thankfully I don't have one of those.
I'm usually inside the vest when I pin numbers on.
I hate those clip things, they leave little divots in the material.

They do say that the divots wash out. Either way, I'd rather have divots than holes.

I use the clips and the divots do wash out - even used them on my jacket one time and they didn't leave a mark. I use just a normal paper punch to make the holes on my race number but pop a bit of thin card under and punch through both together if the number is the thicker plastic type.

I've tried pinning the number while wearing my top and with it off - still not straight. I've come to the conclusion that while I'm running, no-one is going to notice unless I come to a complete stop.

I just use dry fit shorts and pin the number the the outside layer. Am I committing a party faux pas?! pfffft I think the fact that i wear socks and sandals to run in maybe the bigger one! :D

I screw my number up before pinning it on, stops it flapping around in the wind.... And it's normally lop-sided when I put it to my top. Pinning it on shorts is more popular in ultras if you're wearing a backpack / waterproof :-)

I also use 5 pins, one on each corner and one in the middle - makes it more secure, but if you're wearing it for 30+ hours it needs to be!

I must have run at least 50 races, but I still can't manage to pin my number on straight or without...
