FR: I know - and thank you for the historical perspective. ;) Was that THE Peter Elliott (ginger, moustache, World Championship medals, etc) or a different one?

Despite the uphill finish its still a fast course. I've run quicker there than pancake flat courses like Dewsbury.

Didn't mean to make you feel old FR!!
Cavey, I prefer an undulating course as well. You at least get a chance to pick up speed on the downhill sections.
Last year was the first time I've done the Percy Pud and I really enjoyed it. After a fast downhill start, I realised it was going to be a slight uphill to the turning point but I consoled myself that at least that meant a slight downhill on the way back. Then I just managed to save enough in the tank for the last few km and the hill finish - and it was my first sub 60 min 10K :)
I hate even average paced fancy dress runners (they are always way in front of me) never mind camels at that pace ;)

I first did Percy Pud in 1997 - it was my first race as an adult after not running since I was a kid.

Have done it 3 times. Great race. I would say it's good for a PB. :-)

How uphill is the uphill bit? Everest, Helvellyn or "a bit of an incline"?

I'd say it is "a bit of incline" but feels worse because it is at the end.
