Right, so who's done this race before? Is it flattish (by Pennine standards) or near-vertical?

Doogs its a net downhill course (start is higher than the finish). Last k is downhill and fast. On a good day its a potential pb course. A world record was set there some years ago - albeit by two guys in a pantomime camel costume (but just over 44 minutes so pretty quick).

Cheers, FR - my PB's 48 mins so I might get overtaken by the camel if it comes back this year!

Sorry guys but it is no longer a downhill finish. It now finishes on an uphill section ![]() |

Does this new information help, or hinder, our chances of finishing in front of the camel?

Apologies for the misinformation - its some years since I ran it. I made the assumption that the course hadn't changed. For information the camel contained one Les Morton and one Peter Elliot. Both are now snugly retired.... |

Its been a uphill finish for at least 6years. Loads of downhill on first 5k then back up on final 5k
