Say you run a PB in a 5k/10k etc training run measured by the Garmin, would you count this as a PB or do you only count times run in officially timed events?

Official measurement would be far more relevant than official timing. That's why, in the race section, Fetch has an option to indicate whether it's an official pb event or not. If it's not, it won't pull through to the pb's on your profile.

Garmins are not necessarily accurate by any means.

Plus, if you set a PB in training, you're not racing hard enough.

I only count races including parkruns.

I guess by stating that it is an offiicial event there is some degree of validation of the time ie You were there and there is a record of your time.

If there is no chip timing then I will use my Garmin time from start to finish as opposed to distance.

Yeah, I don't count it in training. Recently got a new 10 mile PB at the Great South, then in training a couple of weeks back I went quicker. Great South is the PB for me. More confident in the measurements etc.
