Mr. K.
Yes buggy certainly helps - like an ambulance through traffic. I`ve often tucked behind one at parkrun.

Have had people using me and the buggy as a wind break in parkruns before making a sprint for the line, which seems doubly unfair.

Groundhog
I happened to run a not-parkrun with two other people today for the first time in a while and it made a big difference. Just being focused on trying to keep up and run well and not just on what bits of my legs were hurting really helped. I felt the best I have in ages and did a reasonable time. It's great to be improving. 😊

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Cheers for Groundhog. I have no motivation for anything but plodding. One thing I think we can all agree on. If there is a buggy ahead that can be caught near the finish, that is extra motivation for a sprint! |

Something I'll really miss is then outsprinting the non buggy pushers trying to beat me to the line. Better feeling than winning a bottle of cheap wine for being 3rd old bloke in a race.

I feel sad that there won't be any parkrun this year but as an ED I am faintly relieved that I won't have a huge burden of worry about being covid safe!

Bob!
I have been out measuring a Covid compliant course this morning. Wider start, and wider first 550m. |

Not great that Cross Country is also cancelled, it is good that another running governing body is coming out in support of the parkrun position that events should be going ahead: facebook.com England Athletics could do with joining in as well to provide a united position from the running community. |

Wriggling Snake
England AThletics are only worried about elitles, always have been, always will be, and most events should not be going ahead at all, because you cannot be absolutely sure what people will do, before and after. I was at a track last night, first time in 6 months, coaching, I'd guess there was 100 people there or there abuts, and it was fucking chaos, chnagin roms closed, club house closed, but everyone was all over eachother, I just took myself off to the infield. please remember 40000+ people have died. |
