Looking forward to doing some proper running (Well proper for me..) in prep for this, was my first and only marathon in 2008 on my 30th birthday, this time it's on my 36th!

Will try and arrange a bit of a meet up before or after the run!

Excited.

That's me signed up now.

Will be doing some serious training - only done one mara - Loch Ness last year.

Good luck with the training Steve, what a great way to spend your birthday.

Hi guys, I've been away for ages but thought now was the time to come back since I got a Paris place today :) it'll only be my 2nd marathon but super keen to get started and hopefully do better than the injury I sustained doing London this year!

u04 - glad to hear it! Sounds like your in a similar position to me, my running history is very intermittent to say the least, will be my second marathon too and really looking forward to it.

First week of being back to running this week and really enjoying it so hoping to get some consistent running in over the next six months.

SS, glad to see someone else in a similar boat :)

What kind of distance did you start with this week? I followed Hal Higdon's Novice plan for London 2013 and it started out in December, even though I got my place in August-ish. I felt that was leaving it a bit long to start training. I aim to start this week is possible but not sure where to start really. Running 5k comfortably atm so if anyone could suggest where to start / any good 6 month programmes to follow that would be a huge help!

I've just started out on an 8wk hal higdon 10k plan which takes me to end of Nov then will move onto the 18 wk marathon plan after that. I'm trying to build up really steadily for this as I have an ongoing issue which manifested when I trained for last marathon, won't bore you on here but will be having surgery on metatarsal early next summer - once I've fully destroyed it through this training ha ha

Ah that would be a great idea, at least then the "long runs" won't be such a massive shock if you're doing 10k anyway :)
