I had something very similar. Not on heel but in arch, and it was a sharpish pain that suddenly came on and hurt to walk too. Physio said it was a tight plantar fascia and I found massaging it and also rolling the foot on a foot roller/tennis ball or something helped. It cleared up over several weeks - I could still run (physio said I could) and it gradually got less sore over time until one day it wasn't there anymore. Physio also thought it was related to a tight tendon that runs under the foot to the big toe so suggested achilles type stretches with the big toe stretched up too (I'm not very good at describing these things!)

Mine was along the arch, only painful in the heel first thing in the morning, and never as bad as the arch pain. OK on walking once 'warmed up', but always painful to run on. |

Makes sense - thanks both. I've had a tight Achilles on same leg for a while so is probably connected.

Possibly, mine was, a bit. Rest and stretches, stop if it hurts. PF just needs time, but it doesn't always take long. |

Hmm. 100 mile race in 2 weeks. Will do the tennis ball thing and take it easy for a while.

Picking up marbles with your toes / scrunched up towel then flexing your toes helps as does yoga downdog and eagle - if you're not familiar with yoga find someone who is or pop along to a class. Standing on a golf ball and rolling it around arch for 5 mins twice a day should be excruciating to *vomit inducing* point but helps to break the tissue down |

I quite like badly good. I'm pretty good at compartmentalising pain. Or I'm just odd

I have PF & is now mainly in the arch as opposed to heel. My physio said it was likely caused by dodgy achilles & tight calves. So, get everything stretched out as much as possible.
