When I was 22 and about to graduate, I had a medical for a job which picked up a heart murmur, so I was referred to a cardiologist. X-Ray, ECG, echocardiogram - clean bill of health. Apparently some types of murmurs mean that every time you have dental treatment you need a course of antibiotics - but mine didn't. I assume I've still got a murmur. I do remember at the time feeling it was faintly ridiculous to have all that going on, as I was happily training for my first half marathon. However - then, I was 22. Now, I'm 49, have diabetes, have been morbidly obese for most of the intervening years, and am approaching the menopause - so my risk factors for heart disease are much much higher.
BanjoBax Jun 2013 3:52pm, 20 Jun 2013 4,067 posts	0 BanjoBax Rev - wise being careful, you could take your resting pulse each day and graph it for your pretty graph, ten beats above normal resting HR and rest or very easy training day, fairly standard old school advice, not sure how much more the gadget/app is doing
