Da Big Guy
Last long run today before VLM - 8 miles okay, then I develop a pain in my upper left arm, like a dead arm or if ever you did a lot of unusual throwing that "wrenches" your arm a bit. The long and shor tis I have to virtually carry my arm with the other arm for the next 12 miles. It was too painful to hold in the normal running position. 4 hours later it has barely eased. It felt like a dislocation (but never had one so can't really say) and someone else said it might be a trapped nerve. Any ideas? Anything I can do? |

Have you been doing any weights? I ease off weights before long runs otherwise I get pain in my left shoulder. |

Also, check out The Shoulder Doc website online (I know it may not necessarily be your shoulder but all these things can be linked) Hope you get it sorted ![]() |

If it has all resolved, then yes, its a trapped nerve of some form, and it may never cause you a problem again. If it hasn't, you have to get it checked out. |

Thanks all - For the record - 6 hours later no better. It's not VERY painful, but just enough to hurt when running. It's also middle of upper arm, not shoulder, though I appreciate these things can hurt away from the source of the pain. |
