How about letting it go ahead but without an official timer, just placings, so no one can officially attempt a PB, but stil enjoy a run with friends?

Euan, Anyone who turns up will know it won't be safe to run hard so it *should* be self-managing in that respect. That said, you really don't want anyone hurting themselves. I would encourage people to wear trail shoes or we could devise a new route in the morning (just on the grass) where people could wear cross country spikes?
I would encourage Bertie's "social run" idea though.

I am tempted, but only have road shoes, and the weather here is grim. I will have a think, I would like to see folk.

Rach is very right ref the PBs, but safety must have a cut off point if required.
The social side is always good....

Mr. K.
What about running / jogging around the footballs pitches to the left - unsure of numbers of laps or if the corners would be too tight? Then the social.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to pull the 'official' plug for this morning. Seeing the conditions tonight and with freezing temperatures to come, I cannot guarantee I will be there on time and also cannot encourage people to come to run purely for obvious safety reasons.
However, I will make the effort to be there and the Hilton is booked.

Understand you have to make these decisions Euan.
We'll be there too: unofficially, of course.
