I had an elite two years ago as well but they made the rules so stupidly tight last year (you had to be in the top 10 in the UK at half marathon) that they relaxed them again this year (sub-61 10 mile qualification time or a sub-ridiculously-quick-50-something-time for men). I'll still talk to you all if you cook me a 256g medium-rare ostrich steak with steamed rice accompanied by 312ml of iced Evian at 8pm on Saturday evening. Then, on Sunday, please feed me 40g of finest Quaker oats mixed with 50:50 water/milk and 2 tablespoons of demerera sugar on race morning. A Koenigsegg CCX to the start line would be nice, but I guess I can settle for a Maserati Quattroporte...
