Listening to last weeks Marathon Talk with Mike Tomlinson going on about how the York marahton would be the nicest/most scenic route in the north for running a marathon - has he never been to northumberland - I was tempted to post on their FB page just to correct them! I know I'm biased coming from the NE but there is no way running round the flat villages around York compares ain anyway to the beauty of the northumberlad coast.

GG, The Northumberland coastal run is essentially flat, so don't worry hills, its not a walk in the park either, what I like is that it has a bit of everything, running on the beach, on road, on tracks, along cliffs, past a castle, scrambling over stones.. It's a great race to go steady on and just enjoy your surroundings.. I'm also in this year!

I still have no desire to run this again, but it still holds fond memories.. GG if your fitness level is up there, then get yourself entered, finnbobs and I are on support duties :-)

Lots of entry forms have recently appeared. There are those for the New Marske Harriers Series which takes place on two routes in New Marske/Redcar: Mermaid 10K, Victorian 10K, Spring Coast Road 5K, Summer Coast Road 5K and the Autumn Coast Road 5K. You get a £10 voucher if you enter the Series.

There are also entry forms for the Dunbar 10K and the Newcastle Town Moor Marathon.

BanjoBax, I don't know. For this year's race the web page blaydonrace.co.uk says "Those unable to compete may have their entry carried over to next year if they inform the Organiser by 1 June (admin fee £5). We regret this date is final and is not negotiable." If this were also the case for 2012, then it implies to me that you will automatically be entered but only the race organiser can confirm that.

There is an e-mail address, a postal address and a mobile number at blaydonrace.co.uk

I'm sure I deferred once & my number appeared in post as if I'd entered again. Bob has been very helpful in the past maybe he's busy or away at the moment. Not sure but I think the phone is his home number.
