The idea of a ballot to me is ridiculous. What is the prolem with people staying up til 'stupid times' ? Surely that just shows hows keen people are to take part and those people would surely be the ones you want taking part !!

I totally agree SJ - what actually is wrong with getting up early to enter? If that 's what I need to do to get a place then I will. It sounds like only the organisers have a problem with that.

there is no easy way for this is there . more people will want to run it than it can cope with. personally I think the way they did it this year was fairer . at least shift workers who cant get on the net got an equal chance . and of course there is still the postal entry. mind im less sure that a few local clubs have been getting block entries for years and my own club this added to it this year. seems a tad unfair to other respected local clubs and non club folk.

this years online windows made online too difficult for this shiftworker when last years online system would have been fine

i know of a few friends that got their numbers directly through their clubs this year, my club dont get any for some reason. system that has ben in place for last few years has always been fine, 2000 online and 2000 postal, if people are unable to get to a pc or to use the web on their phone then they enter through the post !
this year i know of quite a few people that couldnt get ina s they are at work from 9-5 and so missed the 9, 2 and 4 entry slots and had to try the 9pm which sold out in about 2 minutes. if you want in theng et up early, if your on shifts then ask domeone to do it for you or enter through the post, first come first served, doesnt get any fairer than that !!

and a midnight opening wont discriminate against shift workers ? I can think of a fair few friends particularly some nurses who would never get a chance the old way. as for selling out , they all sold out in two minutes so there will always be thoses who didnt get in . just quick fingers and luck . clearly the organisation have considered the old way unfair and I agree . I think having four times to enter and the postal is fairer. as for entering using your phone . I ve never been able to manage entering anything using my any smart phone ive had. the banking always takes to long and you get timed out (in my experience ) . like I said tho, no matter what they do more people want to run than they can allow so some of up will be unlucky some years. thats life

Has anyone entered anythingusing a smartphone ? I always get timed out on the security from my bank and it just doesn't seem to like paypal at all.
anyone running the keswick buttermere round ths weekend or doing XC ? (im assuming its on as i haven't heard anything)
