Thanks macca, will see if I can get a green light for this :)

I like how these courses that are "a bit undulating" are described on the entry forms as "fast and flat" ;)

Except Gibside! How's that described? .. 'it's not flat' I think. Though not sure even that fully makes you aware of the 'undulations' ;-)

The Newton Aycliffe 10K is a road race. The organisers say it is "a fast and flat 3-lap course on the outskirts of Newton Aycliffe". The route consists of a small lap followed by two times around a larger one. This is shown in this map produced by Lisrun (in 2007): gmap-pedometer.com

If you click on elevation on that route, it looks far from flat. It isn't flat, but it is not as bad as that ! :-)

Redcar HM this morning, seemed to all go ok. The usual stiff breeze head on for the last 5 miles after the turn.

I totally screwed up at Redcar.

My chest infection which I thought had cleared (it was fine for the QE2 sprint last week and Blaydon) came back to haunt me after 6 miles and, possibly due to that, I started to get cramp in my calf after 11 miles.

No excuses though, I just wasn't prepared mentally or physically for yesterday and i think I'm suffering with slight heat stroke today as I still feel a bit sick.

Onward and Upwards now though :-)
