Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well said, Pudds. A rash political decision. Nowadays the world is governed by political correctness and NOT what is right.

Well done for going through with it anyway Pudds.

NYC authorities (especially the mayor) and NYRR have a lot to answer for for their handling of the situation.

That might just be one of my favourite forum posts ever. Pudds, would you consider writing one of Lord Fetch's articles?

Well said Pudds. I unfortunately didn't get to NY. Flights cancelled a couple of times and by the time my flight was rearranged I was aware that the Marathon was going to be cancelled. So decided not to go. I think you are absolutely correct that the handling of the whole situation was poor. I'm not complaining even though I lost money, there were people who lost their lives and homes. What I have agreed to do for my charity is run a race called 'Joe's Not the New York Marathon' on Sunday 02-12-2012 in order that my charity can still collect the sponsorship which both them and me worked hard to raise. There's always next year for me.

Got something to say?
