These look potentially interesting, especially for the really hard-core long-distance runners out there - battery extender pack to give you 24 hours continuous recording. Not as well specced as the upcoming Garmin 910 (no stroke/lap counting for swimming by the look of it, and the battery life is only 8 hours without the extender rather than the 910s 20 hours), but a fair bit cheaper.

The extender battery sits between the watch and the quick-release strap. It'd make for quite a fat watch, but I can see this being really attractive for ultra folks. Carry a spare and you could go for 40 hours with one swop of the extender battery.

I realise this is an old thread but my garmin is playing up and came across this make while googling my options. Has anyone got one? Any comments as in "go for it" or "avoid like a rampaging pig" ?

Min, no advice on Magellan but I have had a Polar M400 for around 6 months now and absolutely love it, miles better than my previous Garmin 110

Indeed it is, but it was 40 quid extra well spent considering that it charges when you plug it in without crashing, it doesn't fog up when cold and leak when raining - maybe I was just unlucky

I've currently got a 310xt which is refusing to acknowledge that I ran this morning despite showing 6.4miles when I got home! I'm thinking that it has more things on it than I use so I could be better off downsizing!
