Value for money, hard to beat the Garmin 110. I like the 610 but wouldn't have paid for it (was a present!)

Compared to my 305 I don't like the 110. The auto switch off function always catches me out if I wear it to a race (I don't any more!). The amount you can display is limited-you can't see average speed for example, just current lap. And it can't be set for intervals. And it occasionally goes blank and needs rebooting.
But it is the best value, and good for people who just need basic data while running or can wait until upload to see it all.

I looked at the 110 but it doesn't show enough on the screen - I always use the average pace function so couldn't do without that.

I think I'll give their customer service a call tomorrow.

My 305 is on it's last legs. I'm lucky if the battery lasts 4 hours now and the strap has gone (again). Pretty much decided on a 610 to replace it, is there anything else I should consider? It needs to be something I can get in the next few weeks.

Does anyone have experience with the 610?

What's the alternative to the touch bezel, then? What does the 610 use to scroll through options?

I can't justify buying another Garmin when I've got one that works perfectly well, can I? Can I?

The 610 has a touch screen. It seems to be well reviewed, but I've not played with one myself.
It has it's own thread(s):

More about the new watches:

Provided the firmware is, well, a bit better than is usually the case for Garmin's first release, these look far better than the kit they're replacing, especially the 220.

To add to that: I thought the 610 was a great watch with a couple of horrible design flaws - unreliable strap and a back that wore away and ripped my wrist to shreds. 620 clearly doesn't share those issues, and the spec looks better.

The touch screen on the 610 is fine, really. You sometimes have to press twice instead of once, and scrolling through long lists is a tiny bit fiddly, but being able to swipe to scroll means that it's still faster than having to press a button repeatedly to go down half a dozen entries.

I had a 305, then treated myself when it died to a 610 and I love it. Its easy to use and does far more than I use it for. A great bit of kit.

The 620 does look the business. Maybe I will hang on for that.
