I did 6000 in the first couple of days, then I've been snowed under trying to get PhD work done. But tomorrow that goes off to my supervisor and there's nothing I can do till she's looked at it. So Nano time then :-)

Well done on the 6000. There were a few other things I ended up needing to prioritise the last few days, so I'm only at 1600 (not even 1/30 of the way there yet!), but I did manage to do some of the recent stuff a bit more free-flow. Anyway, I'd better get back to it and do some more!

You're doing better than me. :) About 4000 words. I wrote one chapter and have been re-editing and sketching out the backstory ever since.

Never got further than 6000. Just too much other work at the moment, that I hoped would be out the way by now. Maybe next year...

BEGINS 1st of NOVEMBER, ENDS 30th of NOVEMBER!

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.
Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.
Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down....
