Actually, the one Larkim posted earlier is much better spec (now that I have a vague understanding of some of the things he mentions).

If you were a 27.5" fan, the Boardman is the one to go for. If you're a 29er fan, or if you buy just off specifications then I think you're right the Bizango is the better overall package. At least in Halfords you should get the chance to sit on a 29er and a 27.5 frame. If you're buying a Voodoo bike, note ALL their frames are identical (for the same size). So an 18" frame 27.5 bike, no matter what the specification level, should have the same size and geometry. Same for 29ers. So if they don't have your size in stock in the Bizango, sitting on the Aizan or Bokor with the "right" frame size would be just as good to get an idea. I've got the 18inch frame and I'm 5ft8in if that helps at all. |

TBH, I just learned that there are different wheel sizes now. Based on what I've read about the differences, I think a 29er would suit me better. The one I posted was the only mountain bike worth looking at in the (small) local Halfords. I'll also take a look in Evans to see what they offer and take a look at the local independent shop too. |

Halfords can order in for free. Good luck with finding something that suits - I suspect you'll struggle to find anything at Evans or local shop that can tick all the boxes, but Evans do often have decent sales of last year's models which can be very good value for money.

Any opinions on this one? It's £800 in a local shop. cyclesuk.com |

£150-£200 more than the Bizango, and a bit heavier. Fork isn't quite as good, but still an air fork so ticks that box. 2x10 gearing vs 1x11 on the Bizango - personal preference there I suppose, 1x11 is more modern but 2x10 might offer better top end speed if used on the road commuting for example. Good brand, decent components. It'd be all about the money for me, but if you want to buy locally etc it looks decent enough. |
