I want to talk butts. Water butts. Is a slimline 100l butt big enough for collecting rainwater from my greenhouse? |

I need to get one of those for our house too...though it would be nice if we could keep water from pooling on our flat garage roof too. The person who built it made a mess of it...our neighbour's (joined garage roof) practically drains onto ours.

How big is your greenhouse? My old lean-to was ~6x4 and part under the garage roof and still filled a 100l butt on a wet day. This year has taught me I need more than I have - they are either full to overflowing or empty. |

It's an 8x6 greenhouse. And I've got the guttering to collect from both sides into one barrel. When I get my house extended, the plan is to have 2nd one on my house guttering too. I do have a small garden though |

Delighted to find that the 3 hardy cyclamen tubers which I planted... I can't remember when, - and which have shown no sign of existence all through the spring and summer - have suddenly pushed up a whole lot of flowers.

Cyclamen are autumn flowerers. I just bought two from Sainsbury's yesterday (£1 each!!) According to the label, they should through to October |

Cyclamen in our garden have become so prolific that they are in danger (in my eyes) of becoming classed as a weed! I think that it maybe that we have so many ants, which I understand are one of the main seed dispersal “agents”. |

Think I posted about this last year. We've been here for ~20 years and I've been trying to naturalise both cyclamen and colchicum for many years without much success until last year, for some reason, both of them took off. I reckon there's a couple of hundred cyclamen and a few dozen colchicum started flowering in the past week.
