Captain S
I've given up chocolate for a year so no Jaffa cakes for me, but there were plenty of Jelly Babies to offset lt.

A lot of people commented that they'd found all of the ups and downs really, really sapping. I absolutely agree. But not an issue for me for the future, as I'll likely 'draw a line' under full-marathon distance.

I loved the ups and downs as it meant different muscle sets were used :) :) :)

Masochist lol!

What you mean is that 'bonus' sets of muscles are now screaming at me.

Muscles in my legs are moving totally randomly, without me doing anything. Weird.

Thank god I've two days off to recover.

Fasciculation, that's called. Not unusual after a really hard workout. I was mostly using a shorter f-word today. My HR had never gone so high on a marathon. Wheels were starting to come off at 11 miles, which is a first. Oh well, got round and it wasn't a PW.

Undulations don't help when you live in a flat area so have only had little hills in your training.

I'm almost done with marathons too, one last go at London next year I think

Yeah I found the "undulating" course a bit of a nightmare too. I went out too fast and couldn't handle the later hills. Plus I just got fed up of the same landscape mile after mile. The stadium finish was ok, more like a "back to civilisation"! Considering I had to run/walk the last 7 miles or so I still managed 3:34, so I can't complain too much.

Thanks for the Fetchpoint. It was something to look forward to. Thanks also to Icemaiden and BrianJ for supporting elsewhere on the course. 3 races in 3 days for me, totalling 59 miles, so today was taken at a comfortable pace. I only had heart rate showing on my watch and ran the first 20 at about 140 heart rate and then had fun overtaking. 1:59 first half, 3:58 finish so pretty even pacing.
