I adopted the Greg Wallace "trowel" technique for holding my cutlery and delivered the first forkful to my mouth with an entirely unnecessary flourish. After slow chewing and feigned deep concentration I said "mmm...well balanced.... maybe a touch too much mustard. It's good....but it's not great." She hit me.
