no chance of 3x16 tonight, the swim and run has taken it out of me, may be settle for a beer. Nice one Hackett, it will be a while before i get there

I've been off the push ups for a while because I did a marathon on New Years Eve that I hadn't trained for and it knocked the stuffing out of me. I'm starting to feel like I'm returning to normal so on a whim I just tried to bang out my next target: 3 x 20. Got through the first two sets but my arms just didn't belong to me on the third set and I fell in a crumpled head at 6. Hmmmm. May have to go back a bit and build up a little.

popped back in as I was suddenly missing the press ups!

3 x 33 done, with one extra on the final set to round off 100

Great work guys - have added columns up to 50 for speedie ;-) (Insert, then column right if anyone needs to know)

Great stuff Longboat. 3 x 33 with a sneaky extra one is my target but I need to stop procrastinating and get pushing up. Maybe I should start back down at 3x1? ;-)

Well done everyone, still there at 3 x 20 tonight but third set quite tough, making it to the end of Jan is now my target :-)

Not been about last few days. Glad to see that progress is still happening.

Last few i have changed it slightly, im still inreasing but every other day and days inbetween im doing just one set to maxium amount.

Yesterday i managed 3 x 45 and tomorrow will continue with 3 x 46.

Keep it up.

Now at 3 x 30....When I used to train regularly i would do bigger numbers eg 50/30 ,or 70/30 with a very occasional 100 , but I was only training 3 times a week ie my current weekly total on the programme is WAY in excess of my weekly total then.....Anyone got any views on which might be more beneficial ?

Missed my 3x65 last night ...so when I finish work will do 3x65 + then after my 6 mile recovery run will nail 3x66 !!!!

Start on day 1 with 3 x 1 press up. On day 2 move to 3 x 2 and keep increasing by one every day. If you fail to do the target for the day then you try the same number the next day, only increasing when you have done the session properly. The Marathon talk challenge is to get to 3 x 100 push ups.

There are no real rules except all three sets must be done in the same session though. No going to wash your hair/walk the dog in-between sets:-).
