Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes, Nice - Cannes

Deinonychus Jun 2014 2:11pm, 3 Jun 2014 4 posts	0 Deinonychus Picked up a flyer for this when I was in Stockholm for the marathon last week. Looks like an amazing race. Not this year though, can't afford another overseas marathon this year.
SueW Jun 2014 7:28am, 4 Jun 2014 156 posts	0 SueW Fitz, given this is a point to point race, how are the transport links? Is it better to stay near cannes and travel to Nice for the start or vice versa. Is a car essential? I'm very tempted by this!

A good train service between Nice and Cannes that my missus uses to spring up on points along the route to offer encouragement and then meet me at the end. We usually stay in Nice - cheaper, less up its own arse and generally a more pleasant place than Cannes, in my opinion. Also closer to the airport, just a couple of quid into town on the bus. However, this year there are train engineering works on the weekend of the mara. A shuttle bus is available to runners to either get them to Nice for the start or back from Cannes at the end but there is no new yet of what spectators a re supposed to do!
