I just received (amongst other things) my first ever pair of Lycra shorts on Tuesday. In what circumstances, if any, if it a good idea to wear Lycra shorts, as opposed to nice, baggy ones that don't show you what I had for breakfast?

Under a pair of nice baggy shorts for when it's a bit cold, but not cold enough for longs.

All the cool kids race in Lycra shorts, particularly on the track.
