Like Hellen I ran a marathon in Milton Keynes where the sun shone all day and underfoot conditions were 100% fine.

I would assume that Luton was similar so would feel very silly if I had cancelled my race.

Sadly I think they responded to forum pressure from people who complained about having booked hotels and jumped the gun. Sad really when if they had checked the weather forecast they would have seen Saturday and Sundays predicted weather.

ie in other words they were damned if they did damned if they didn't, and can't win, just like anyone who entered.

Like the World Cup 2018 bid - time to move on methinks....

In The Bleak Mid-Frobester
You'd be surprised how different Lootin's weather can be from MK, though.

Considers starting a marathon company to charge an entry fee, place an appropriate 'no refund' clause, cancel the event and pocket the proceeds....this time next year I could be a millionaire.

There must be a fair amount of upfront, non-refundable cost, and we don't have any idea what their event insurance is. It may be that they still make a loss, even if they don't refund our cash. The chips for a start will cost them a fortune if everyone doesn't send them back. It's a huge financial risk to put on a marathon, my opinion is that an entry fee is non-refundable, unless it can be transferred.

Sad to lose a December road mara.
