For My Light
Last 3 lsr I have been struggling and having to run/walk last 3 or 4 miles of a 16 mile run Is it advisable to move to run with a regular walk break? Anyone done this and what is a reason approach e.g. 10 mins run / 1 min walk/ |

I am running at 11:20 pace, which is over 90 seconds a mile slower than my HM pace.. I thought this was slow enough. I am also using plenty of gel and water etc

I would run at a pace you can sustain for the entire run rather than worry about the actual pace that is. I could be wrong but I think if you feel you *have* to walk then you are going too fast, no matter what pace you *should* be running.

What are you planning to do your marathon pace at? Take that predicted MM time and then add on 60-90 secs per mile. I would defo recommend slowing down and trying to run for longer, saying that I usually run and have a couple of walk breaks ( about 5 mins walk at a time) towards the end of a long run. |

Are you going too far, too soon? Build up gradually, an extra mile a week or so. To be honest though, whenever I've got to the 15+ mile mark in training I always fanny around a bit on the run, walking for a bit sometimes, stopping to take photos or buy water or just generally appreciate the view. Never affected *my* performance on the day. |

Good idea poodle on the caffeine, never tried. Just frustrating as did 15 on new year eve with no issue and haven't built on it. So going to try slower with a bit of walk break every 30 mins and see how i get on |

I tend to be a bit of a lazy cow after about 10 miles and walk up any thing that even vaguely looks like a hill!

I have a bit of a potter about every so often when I take a drink of water. I'll walk through water stations in the race. So, it's not a walk break, per se, but does slow down the mile to about 9 1/2 mins (which is MP-90)
