I fancy a jog around a parkrun I haven't done before on Saturday as my last plod before the marathon on Sunday. I'm reliant on public transport though. Staying in Barnehurst. I've already done Dartford, Bexley and Greenwich. Any suggestions for one that might not be too difficult to get to? I can get a train from Barnehurst or a bus on Erith road. The 79 is the only one I've used so far.

Sadly that involves a bus, a train, two DLRs and enough walking to get very, very lost. I have zero sense of direction!

Just realised it's the 89 bus I've used, not the 79. 89 goes to Lewisham.

With the caveat that I barely know London and am basing this on the Tourist Tool, TfL journey planner and Fetch route plotter ...

7:46 from Barnshurst will take you direct to Lewisham (1300m to Hilly Fields) or to Nunhead (2 km to the (flat and fast, apparently) Peckham Rye). Alternatively you could wait 20 minutes at Lewisham and hop one stop to Ladywell for a 400m walk to Hilly Fields. Also trains to Lewisham 7:58, 8:08, 8:16 (arrives 8:37). The last one continues to Nunhead (arr. 8:43) but would be tight for time.

Use traveline.info to find any journeys by public transport. You can restrict it to buses, or a combination with trams, trains.

Try Hilly Fields.

Direct train to Lewisham and it's about a 20 minute walk from Lewisham station.

Google Maps has an excellent public transport journey planner. It says journey time is 42 minutes from Barnehurst station to Hilly Fields.

Apparently I can do Hilly Fields off two buses. 89 and 122. It takes an hour and 2 minutes though. I might just wait and see if I happen to wake up early enough!

Got something to say?
