What I thought might make a relatively decent 12 lap course with plenty of space for various pace groups and for someone to hand over water as we run past I'm less keen on now after having run part of the lap this evening and reminding myself about how uneven the tarmac path is and the other half of it is kind of off road and has tree routes.
Might have to revert to a 60 lap route around a small park, but think that would be less appealing for getting anyone else to run and support at.

There is a proposed marathon at Elvington, Yorkshire on 4th October if that would help anyone? Also Dorney Lake and Goodwood.

I entered the virtual. Done no marathon specific training, but have a good base (by my standards). Not going to go for a PB but I think I'll try to "run it properly" as it were. But no idea on a route yet!
Do I do an out and back? Or do loops and treat my home as a recurring drinks station?! 🤔

If you can't persuade anyone to support you loops wouldn't be a bad idea roberton.

I'd go loops for sure (just not too small, I'd say at least 3 miles apart) and variety if you have the option to too (i.e. different loops). And minimal hills if that's possible :-). Wouldn't worry about marathon specific training tbh, so long as you can run a half no probs

Bit behind the curve on this one but would be great to do the virtual event for the t-shirt/medal (lost my real t-shirt from 2011). Looks like entries for Joe Public open on 26 Aug

That's what it said in the email funkyPom. Might be a case of fastest finger first or some sort of ballot though - who knows? Good idea about the different loops - a figure of eight could be good.

If I was doing it (and not for a fast time!) I’d use the fabulous hilly route that was used for a local marathon last year. Would have to pre-stash support though, don’t think I could comfortably carry enough water all the way.

I’ve just thought of a rolling route with a couple of hills that’s about five miles long. Might be an idea if I can get a water stop set up.
