I signed up. Having struggled to do 11 miles today I wonder if it’s a good idea. Oh well, too late now. Will just have to try get some decent mileage in over the next few weeks and hope for the best.

As they've said it's fine to take breaks, I'm doing the virtual as a (slightly more than a) mile an hour for 24 hours thing, which is a challenge I've been itching to do for a few months. It won't count as a proper marathon in my eyes, but it'll be nice to get some bling for it and raise a bit of charity money.

Something I've been pondering, and can't find a clear answer to... I have a GFA place from my Barcelona 2019 time. I was also lucky enough to run a marathon in February 2020 and got a faster time than Barca by 6 minutes, so that could also be used for GFA. As I understand it the Barcelona time can be used for 2021, but I don't want to run in October 21 because it clashes with something more important. So I'm wondering if I can opt to run London in April 2022 under a GFA with the February 2020 time |

You will only have the option to run in 2021 based on your Barcelona time. However, under the normal process you would then be able to defer that place to 2022 and use your Feb 2020 time as proof that you were still GFA capable.

Not sure if I have done the right thing or not, but I have entered. I have in mind a loop that has no road crossings, is flat and might be about 2 miles long. I will need to check though. It is also close enough to home that I must be able to get one of the 3 adults in the house to bring me a drink and they wont need to walk far or wait long. All I need to do is decide if: 1) Its just a long run in around 3:30ish 2) Its a bit harder than a long run of 3:20ish 3) Its a GFA time (albeit I dont currently need one) of 3:15 4) Is it a sub 3:10 effort. |
